The latest on Guns N' Roses is that Chinese Democracy won't be out till after the North America tour, which starts here in Vancouver on Nov 7. I got floor seats. woo hoo! Regarding the new album, Axl says, "If you're waiting...don't. Live your life." I still think there'll be democracy in China before Chinese Democracy is released.
Tapeworm is a Trent Rezonr/Maynard James Keenan side project. They've been in the studio this past summer. Album should be out soon enough on Trent's Nothing Records label.
Bouncing Souls are making a DVD at the moment, and the just recently released a split with Anti-Flag on BYO Records. I haven't heard it yet, I have to find it on mp3 before I go out and buy it.
Less Than Jake are in the studio now for their new LP Anthem, which will be their major label debut with Green Day producer Rob Cavallo. I'm glad LTJ signed to a major label. They've always had that sound. I just hope they don't become watered down like Blink 182, who btw, a friend claims is "everything thats wrong with music today". I argued it was P.O.D.
Lagwagon is scheduled to go into the studio in October/November with a new LP out be Jan/Feb 2003. Fat Wreck Chords also recently re-issued "Let's Talk About Leftovers", which is one of the best B-sides and rarities CD I own. I've been kicking myself for missing them on the Warped Tour this year. I didn't go because they were the only band I wanted to see and they would have only played for 40 minutes or so, and the show was on a Friday when I was busy at work. Oh, and I hate punks. I'll write more about Lagwagon later this week.
Lagwagon lead singer Joey Cape's other band Bad Astronaut have a new album coming out tomorrow: Houston We Have a Drinking Problem.
And Joey's other, other band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have been recording this summer as well. No word on release date, but the theme of the new album is rumoured to be soul music and R&B.
In the mean time, Fat Music Vol. VI coming Nov 19 will feature unreleased songs from Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
Brooklyn's finest, the Fun Lovin' Criminals have been in Europe for the last few years. Their last few albums have been released only in Europe. I bought Loco and Mimosa in Spain last year. They also released Bag of Hits recently, a greatest hits and remixes cd. I have to settle for the mp3 rather than paying $40+ for the import. I still can't understand why FLC doesn't have a North American record deal. It boggles the mind! Anyways, they're back in the studio as well.
The last news item from Placebo dates back to May saying a producer had been chosen. So probably nothing new till sometime next year.
The Dandy Warhols say:
