the family is building a new house, but it looks like another family has already moved in. i was taking pictures in the hallway on the main floor when the mother bird saw me and flew off, scaring the fuck out of me in the process. i took the nest down, snapped a few photos. nest1.jpg

i didn't want to move that little piece of straw on the egg. it looked kinda delicate.

apparently birds like making nests in partially constructed houses. there's another nest in the basement. i put it back up where it was and the mother bird returned shortly after.

also while we're still in the mutual of omaha's animal kingdom mode here, i forgot to mention suejon, the bee girl, posted photos of a wasp i took a few weeks ago.
