i went to my very first NHL hockey game today, and it wasn't half bad. the Canucks beat the Oilers in overtime. the game was actually fun and even thrilling at moments. the best part was when the played the Bouncing Souls version of "Ole! Ole! Ole!" whenever the Canucks scored. Bouncing Souls at a hockey game! wow. but of course they ruined it later by playing that one hit wonder Harvey Danger song.

i'm still not really a hockey fan, but i'm clever enough at pretending to be one. to be a Canucks fan, all you have to do is throw these lines out there:

  • they should change from man to man defense to zone defense.
  • sometimes you gotta give it 110%.
  • the coach really needs to bench Sedin. he's not producing at all on that line.
  • Trent Klatt is a hard worker, he works hard.
  • put the puck to the net, good things will happen.
  • what are you talking about? dumping the puck in is all part of the strategy!
also, don't forget to mention something about how the Sedin twins always fall down and how the Bertuzzi/Bure trade was the greatest thing the Canucks ever did and you'll be fine.

is it hard to get tickets to the games over there?

not really. this game was only the 13th sellout of the season. it's hard getting really good seats though. and by hard, i mean expensive.

quite different now, I belive they are at their 29th sell out of the season and all the remaining games are sold out. And they are pretty cheap when you compare them to other cities. (But it would be nice if they were cheaper)
Most of those comments wont fly anymore. you got to work on your material otherwise people won't believe you are a fan. ;)
